JPPM Holds LiteraLab Public Test Kick-off, Involves Users to Test the Use of AI in Research

Serang, 6 November 2026 – LiteraLab held the LiteraLab Public Test kick-off activity on Friday (6/11/2026) online via Zoom. This activity is the opening of a series of public trials which will take place on 6–11 November 2026 involving participants from academic circles, researchers and users who are interested in developing research assisted by artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence/AI) technology.

This public test was held to obtain direct input from users regarding the function, ease of use, reliability and benefits of LiteraLab in supporting the research process. Through this activity, participants are given the opportunity to try various LiteraLab features and evaluate the extent to which the platform can help research work more systematically and efficiently.

In the opening session, participants received an introduction to the purpose and mechanism of the public test, followed by a demonstration of using the platform. Participants are also introduced to two test path options, namely Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis. Both pathways are designed to provide testing experience relevant to research needs, from literature management to analysis and visualization of scientific publication data.

One important aspect that is of concern in this public test is the application of the human-in-the-loop principle. LiteraLab was developed as an AI-based research assistant that helps users carry out the research process, but does not take over the authority and academic responsibilities of researchers. Each AI recommendation or output can still be checked, accepted, rejected or corrected by the user in accordance with methodological considerations and available evidence.

Therefore, participants were not only asked to assess whether the LiteraLab features function properly, but also to observe the accuracy of the results, the traceability of the process, the consistency of the methodology, and the extent to which the user retains control over research decisions.

After the demonstration session, participants are directed to continue testing independently during the period 6–11 November 2026. Participants can choose a research topic according to their individual interests and carry out one of the main paths, namely SLR or bibliometrics. Test results, experience notes, and participant input will be collected as material for evaluation and development of LiteraLab.

Through this public test, LiteraLab hopes to build a product development process that is more open, participatory and oriented to the real needs of users. It is hoped that input from participants will be the basis for improving the platform, so that the use of AI in research not only increases efficiency, but also upholds methodological integrity, transparency and academic responsibility.

This public test confirms one key principle: AI helps the research process, but researchers remain in control of their decisions and research results.
