Serang, 29 October 2026 – Network for Research and Community Service (JPPM) launched LiteraLab, a literature research platform assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) which can be accessed via literalab.jejaringppm.org. This platform allows researchers to carry out systematic literature reviews, scoping reviews, qualitative meta-synthesis and bibliometric analysis in one workspace, from preparing protocols to drafting manuscripts ready for publication.
LiteraLab is intended for undergraduate to doctoral students, lecturers, researchers, and review teams who need a literature review process that is neat, traceable, and in accordance with international reporting guidelines. This platform supports various methodologies, including PRISMA 2020, PRISMA-ScR, SALSA, SPAR-4-SLR, Kitchenham, ENTREQ, as well as bibliometric approaches.
Six Stages Following the PRISMA Flow
The work process at LiteraLab is structured in six stages, namely protocol, identification, screening, feasibility, extraction and synthesis, and report. Researchers can formulate research questions using various frameworks such as PICO, SPIDER, SPICE, PCC, TCCM, and CIMO according to their field of science.
At the identification stage, LiteraLab provides an integrated search of 21 sources, including PubMed, Scopus, OpenAlex, Crossref, DOAJ, ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, and MDPI, with an open access filter. References can also be imported from RIS, BibTeX, CSV, or PubMed files, and duplicates are flagged automatically.
This platform is also equipped with two-stage screening, quality assessment using AMSTAR, CASP, JBI, and MMAT instruments, data extraction from PDF, and random-effects meta-analysis complete with forest plot. PRISMA diagrams are calculated automatically from screening decisions and are available in 10 templates, while manuscript drafts containing abstracts, methods, results, tables and figures can be exported to Word format.
Complete Bibliometric Analysis
For bibliometric studies, LiteraLab presents annual publication trends, Bradford and Lotka's laws, citation analysis, collaboration between countries, co-occurrence and co-citation network analysis, thematic maps, and three-field plots from Scopus and Web of Science data.
AI Suggests, Researchers Decide
LiteraLab applies the principle that every AI suggestion is marked and must be validated by researchers before being saved, so that the review process remains transparent and accountable. All stages can still be done manually. The platform supports teamwork with editor and reviewer roles, a bilingual Indonesian and English interface, and guaranteed project privacy.
Chairman of JPPM, Dr. Tb Ai Munandar, S.Kom., M.T., said that LiteraLab was developed to answer the challenges that researchers often face when compiling literature studies. "Systematic reviews and bibliometrics require a long and rigorous process. Many researchers have to move from one application to another. Through LiteraLab, we unite all these stages in one workspace that follows PRISMA standards," he said.
He emphasized that the presence of AI at LiteraLab is placed as a companion, not a substitute for researchers. "AI helps speed up work, but scientific decisions remain in the hands of researchers. This principle is important so that review results remain of integrity and are worthy of publication," he explained. According to him, LiteraLab is open to network members and the wider academic community as a manifestation of JPPM's spirit to disseminate knowledge.
LiteraLab complements the JPPM digital ecosystem with JPPM E-Jurnal and Sertiva.
