Again, JPPM Team Wins 2024 Matching Fund Grant for Development of Smart Fisheries Governance Applications

Serang - Dentik Karyaningsih, M.Kom., a lecturer from the Informatics Study Program at Serang Raya University, succeeded in winning grant funding in the 2024 Matching Fund (MF) program. He is also an active member of the Research and Community Service Network (JPPM) and serves as Coordinator for Finance and Facilities at the organization. The proposal submitted by Dentik with the title "Development of the SIPATIN Smart Application Based on an Integrated System to Increase Fisheries Governance Capacity at the Lebak Banten Regency Fisheries Service" was selected as one of the recipients of this prestigious grant.

Innovation in Fisheries Governance

The Matching Fund Program is a government initiative that aims to strengthen collaboration between the academic world and industry in producing innovations that have a direct impact on society. In his proposal, Dentik Karyaningsih proposed the development of the SIPATIN Smart Application, an integrated system designed to increase fisheries governance capacity in Lebak Regency, Banten.

The SIPATIN system (Integrated Fisheries Management Information System) aims to optimize the management of fisheries resources through an intelligent information technology approach. This application will integrate various data and information related to fisheries, such as fish population data, catch locations, and weather patterns that can influence fishermen's catches. With this integrated system, it is hoped that decision making at the fisheries service level can be more accurate and efficient.

Collaboration with Lebak Regency Fisheries Service

This program not only involves Serang Raya University, but also collaborates with the Lebak Regency Fisheries Service as the main partner. This collaboration is a strategic step in ensuring that the technology developed is in accordance with field needs and conditions.

"The Lebak Regency Fisheries Service really supports this initiative. We see great potential for the SIPATIN application to help in better and more sustainable fisheries management in our area," said a representative from the Lebak Regency Fisheries Service.

This collaboration also includes training and assistance for fisheries service officers and local fishermen in using the application. Thus, the benefits of developing this application can be directly felt by people involved in the fisheries sector.

Positive Impact on Society and the Environment

Dentik Karyaningsih hopes that the SIPATIN application will not only increase the efficiency of fisheries governance, but also have a positive impact on fishing communities in Lebak Regency. With this application, fishermen can obtain more accurate information regarding optimal catch times and locations, so they can increase their catches.

Apart from that, the SIPATIN application is also expected to support fish resource conservation efforts in the region. With more integrated data, the fisheries department can more easily monitor the condition of fish stocks and take the necessary steps to maintain the sustainability of marine ecosystems.

"In the long term, we hope that this application can become a model that can be applied in other regions in Indonesia, which also face challenges in managing fisheries resources," explained Dentik.

Recognition and Hope for the Future

Dentik Karyaningsih's success in obtaining the 2024 Matching Fund grant is recognition of the dedication and innovation he has shown in the fields of research and community service. As a lecturer and active member of JPPM, Dentik continues to be committed to developing projects that have a real impact on society.

"This award is not only for me personally, but also for Serang Raya University and JPPM who always support my every step in carrying out research and community service. We will continue to strive to make the best contribution to society, especially in the field of information technology which can support sustainable development," he added.

In the future, Dentik hopes that this program can continue to develop and provide wider benefits. He also invited other academic colleagues to continue to innovate and collaborate with various parties, so that research results can be more easily implemented and have a greater positive impact.

With this success, Dentik Karyaningsih and his team are ready to move to the next stage in developing the SIPATIN application, with the hope of bringing real change in fisheries governance in Lebak Regency and beyond.
