Serang - On June 20 2024, the Research and Community Service Network (JPPM) in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, Bhayangkara University, Greater Jakarta (UBJ) carried out Community Service (PKM) activities in the Sawarna Tourism Village, Banten. This activity aims to improve the skills and creativity of the community, especially young people and mothers in Sawarna Village, in producing liquid washing soap. This program is expected to provide added value to the tourist village, as well as open up new business opportunities for the local community.
The event which took place in the hall of the Sawarna Village Head's Office received a warm welcome from the participants. PKK mothers and young women who were the main participants in this activity showed high enthusiasm during the training. They not only learn about the liquid laundry soap production process, but also gain knowledge about product marketing locally and online.
According to one of the participants, this activity provided new insights that were very useful. "We are very grateful for this training. They not only provide theoretical material, but also accompany participants in direct practice. In this way, participants can better understand each stage of production, from selecting raw materials, mixing processes, to product packaging.
Apart from that, UBJ Faculty of Engineering students also play an active role in this activity by helping in each training session. This student involvement is part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education, research and community service. "Activities like this are very important to improve relations between the campus and the community. We hope that the knowledge we provide can be useful and continue to be applied by Sawarna residents," said one of the students involved in this activity.
One of the objectives of this PKM activity is to encourage local economic development through home industries. "We hope that, with the skills that have been obtained, PKK mothers and young women in this village can utilize this knowledge to improve the family economy while contributing to developing the village's potential," he said.
